Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Peptone: provides nitrogen source, amino acids, and growth factors to meet the growth and reproduction needs of intestinal gram-negative bacteria; Glucose can ferment carbohydrate substrates and serve as a fermentation carbon source for target bacteria such as Escherichia coli; Bromocresol purple is an acid-base indicator, appearing purple in neutral environments; The fermentation of glucose by coliform bacteria produces organic acids, and the pH of the culture medium decreases, causing the indicator to change from purple to yellow.

Main components

Composed of peptone, glucose, bromocresol violet, and distilled water.

Storage conditions and expiration date

Storage conditions: This product should be stored in a dark environment at 2-8 ℃.

Clinical application scenarios

Preliminary screening of coliform bacteria in water sources and drinking water: The water sample is enriched with bacteria, and the contamination of coliform bacteria is determined by acid and gas production reactions.

Microbial limit testing for food: cultivation of Escherichia coli in beverages, drinking water, cooked food, and fresh raw materials.

Microbial examination of drugs and purified water: screening of coliforms in pharmaceutical water, oral liquids, and raw materials.

Medical device rinsing solution testing: Qualitative detection of coliform bacteria in sterile device rinsing water samples.

Environmental water sample monitoring: monitoring of coliform bacteria contamination in pool water, sewage, and process water.

Hygiene evaluation control test: used for isolation and identification of acid producing Gram negative intestinal bacteria in various samples.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Escherichia coli

Gram negative short rod bacteria, with motile flagella, no spores, facultative anaerobic; Fermented glucose can produce a large amount of acid and gas. Acid production in the culture medium causes bromocresol purple to turn from purple to yellow, and bubbles accumulate in the tubules. It is a major indicator bacterium for water, medicine, and food hygiene.

Klebsiella genus

Gram negative crude short rod bacteria, with capsules, mostly without flagella, facultative anaerobic; Fermentation of glucose produces acid and gas, and discoloration produces positive gas, often indicating contamination of the environment, purified water, and instrument flushing solution by bacteria.

Enterobacter aerogenes

Gram negative bacteria, facultative anaerobic, ferment glucose to produce acid and gas; Belonging to the environmental type Escherichia coli group, it is commonly found in water sources and process water, and its biochemical reactions are consistent with those of Escherichia coli.
