Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Tryptone provides carbon and nitrogen sources; Lactose is a fermentable sugar in the Escherichia coli community; Potassium dihydrogen phosphate is a buffering agent; Agar is a coagulant for culture media; Yihong and Meilan are antibacterial agents and pH indicators that can inhibit Gram positive bacteria, produce precipitates under acidic conditions, and form purple black colonies or colorless transparent colonies with black centers on the periphery.

Main components

Composed of tryptone, lactose, dipotassium dihydrogen phosphate, agar, eosin, methylene blue, and distilled water.

Storage conditions and expiration date

Storage conditions: This product should be stored in a dark environment at 2-8 ℃.

Validity period: The unopened original packaging has a validity period of 3 months.

This product is a disposable product.

Clinical application scenarios

Preliminary screening of intestinal pathogenic bacteria in fecal specimens: isolation of Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella and other Enterobacteriaceae pathogenic bacteria to assist in the diagnosis of bacterial diarrhea.

Microbial testing of water bodies and domestic water: Counting coliform bacteria to determine the degree of fecal pollution in water sources, and using it as a culture medium for detecting hygiene indicator bacteria.

Microbial limit testing for food and drugs: screening for coliform bacteria and pathogenic Escherichia coli, evaluating the microbiological safety of products.

Clinical urine sample urinary tract infection screening: isolation and identification of common Gram negative pathogens in the urinary tract, such as Escherichia coli.

Environmental hygiene monitoring: Sampling of hospital countertops and cleaning equipment, detection of indicator bacteria, and determination of fecal contamination.

Preliminary identification and differentiation of bacterial strains: relying on colony staining characteristics to distinguish Escherichia coli from other Escherichia coli, achieving initial isolation and judgment.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Escherichia coli: G ⁻ facultative anaerobic bacteria, common pathogenic bacteria in the urinary and intestinal tract, can ferment lactose to produce a large amount of acid; The colony is black with a typical green metallic luster, moist and protruding.

Klebsiella/Enterobacter aerogenes: G ⁻ facultative anaerobic pathogenic bacteria with low acid production during lactose fermentation; The colony is pink, large and viscous, without metallic luster.

Shigella and Salmonella: G ⁻ facultative anaerobic pathogenic bacteria that cause dysentery and food poisoning, do not use lactose; The colony is colorless, semi transparent, medium-sized, and has smooth edges.

Proteus: G ⁻ facultative anaerobic, with migratory growth characteristics, does not ferment lactose; The colony is colorless and thin film like, easily spreading and spreading into patches.
