【 Principle of Inspection 】
Malt extract is rich in maltose, glucose, various amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements to meet the growth and reproduction of mold and yeast; Soy peptone provides peptides and amino acids to promote the proliferation of slow growing dermatophytes and deep-seated fungi; Agar is a coagulant.
Main components
Composed of malt extract, soy peptone, and agar.
Storage conditions and expiration date
Storage conditions: This product should be stored in a dark environment at 2-8 ℃.
Validity period: The unopened original packaging has a validity period of 6 months.
This product is a disposable product.
Primary isolation and culture of clinical fungal specimens: Inoculate specimens such as dander and sputum to screen for pathogenic fungi such as dermatophytes and Candida, and assist in the diagnosis of tinea corporis, fungal pneumonia, etc.
Preliminary identification of fungal colony morphology: Fungi are preliminarily identified based on differences in colony color, growth rate, spore production characteristics, etc., or used for the total number of fungi and yeasts in drugs and cosmetics to evaluate product safety.
Monitoring of fungal contamination in hospital environment: Screening for Aspergillus and Candida in ICU, humidifiers, air conditioning filters and other environments to prevent invasive fungal infections in immunocompromised populations.
Purification and Passage Preservation of Fungal Strains: Separate single colonies from mixed specimens for strain passage, preservation, and activation culture.
Candida albicans (Candida albicans)
Oval single cell, sprouting and reproducing, can form pseudohyphae; Colonization in the human mouth, vagina, and intestines can lead to weakened immunity, causing thrush, vaginitis, deep fungal infections, and facultative anaerobic conditions; The colony is milky white, smooth, viscous, and creamy in texture, with round protrusions. After prolonged cultivation, it turns slightly yellow and lacks fluffy aerial hyphae.
Cryptococcus neoformans
There is a thick capsule outside the cell, which mainly invades the central nervous system and causes cryptococcal meningitis; The colony is milky white, highly viscous, moist, with larger colonies that are easy to flow.
Trichophyton rubrum
Separated branching hyphae produce spores of varying sizes; The most common pathogenic bacteria for tinea pedis and onychomycosis; The front of the colony is white/off white fluffy; On the back, the red pigment of the wine seeps into the agar.
Aspergillus niger
Black spherical conidiophores often cause fungal diseases in the external auditory canal; The base of the colony is white, and the surface is covered with a large amount of black powdery spore clusters.
