Vibrio Chromogenic Medium is a specialized culture medium designed for the rapid isolation and identification of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio cholerae, and Vibrio vulnificus. It achieves precise differentiation through a dual mechanism combining enzymatic chromogenic action (target vibrios secrete specific enzymes that hydrolyze substrates, releasing chromogenic groups) and selective inhibition: Vibrio parahaemolyticus forms magenta colonies, while Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio vulnificus produce green-to-blue-green colonies. Other bacteria are significantly inhibited or remain colorless, markedly enhancing detection specificity and sensitivity.
