Columbia Blood Agar is a highly nutritive, non-selective medium specifically designed for the isolation of fastidious microorganisms and the observation of hemolytic characteristics in clinical microbiology. Through the dual action of its compound nutrient support system and hemolysis colorimetric mechanism, it significantly enhances the recovery rate and growth activity of Streptococcus species (such as Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae), Listeria, Haemophilus, and certain anaerobic bacteria.
