【Principle】
Beef extract and peptone serve as fundamental nutrients, providing carbon sources, nitrogen sources, and other growth factors required for bacterial growth; lactose is a fermentable carbohydrate.
【Main Ingredients】
Composed of peptone, beef extract, lactose, and distilled water.
【Storage Conditions and Shelf Life】
Storage conditions: This product should be stored in a light-protected environment at 2-8°C.
Expiration date: The original packaging, when unopened, has a shelf life of 6 months.
This product is for single-use only.
Traditional initial fermentation screening: In the old standards, it was used for initial screening of coliforms in water samples, food, etc., but now it is mostly replaced by LST broth.
Antibacterial residue free sample enrichment: Suitable for purified water, clean equipment and other samples without disinfectant residue, it will not inhibit weakly tolerant intestinal bacteria.
Biochemical screening of bacterial strains: used for simple testing of lactose fermentation characteristics of standard bacterial strains, assisting in biochemical qualitative analysis.
Low pollution matrix pre enrichment: Pre enrichment of samples mainly containing Gram positive bacteria, such as natural fruits and vegetables, to avoid the inhibition of target bacteria.
Pre culture for confirmation test: BGLB confirmation of tracheal transfer to exclude false positives caused by gram-positive bacteria.
Escherichia coli
A facultative anaerobic Gram-negative short bacillus, a fecal pollution indicator bacterium, and an opportunistic pathogen; capable of fermenting lactose to produce substantial acid and gas, with low nutritional requirements and vigorous growth in LB medium; after 24 hours at 36°C in broth culture, the medium becomes turbid, the color shifts from purple to bright yellow, and the Duhring tube fills with bubbles.
Klebsiella (acid-producing / Klebsiella pneumoniae)
G⁻ short bacilli, encapsulated, commonly found in water and environments, with extremely strong lactose fermentation ability, and a nosocomial conditionally pathogenic bacterium; LB culture shows severe turbidity, liquid discoloration to yellow, high gas production, and complete filling of small tubes with gas.
Enterobacter cloacae, Enterobacter aerogenes
Gram-negative bacilli with flagella, saprophytic bacteria found in soil and water sources, capable of fermenting lactose to produce acid and gas; B culture shows turbidity and yellowing, moderate gas production, and a slightly slower growth rate compared to Escherichia coli.
Citrobacter freundii
G⁻ bacilli, widely distributed in sewage and food, exhibit delayed lactose fermentation; LB culture shows slight turbidity and a faint yellow color after 24 hours, with noticeable yellowing and trace gas production by 48 hours.
