Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Tryptone serves as a basic nutrient in the culture medium, providing nitrogen, carbon, and other growth factors required for bacterial cell growth; Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic pressure equilibrium of the system; Phosphates as buffering agents; Glucose, as a fermentable carbon source, can promote the growth of bacterial cells; Tween-80 has the effect of alleviating cytotoxicity; Neomycin can inhibit Gram positive cocci and bacilli, as well as some Gram negative strains such as Proteus mirabilis and Salmonella.

Main components

Composed of tryptone, glucose, sodium chloride, Tween-80, disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, neomycin, and distilled water.

Clinical application scenarios
Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Shigella

Biological characteristics: Gram negative Bacillus subtilis, without spores, capsules, or flagella, non motile, facultative anaerobic; Not fermenting lactose, mostly decomposing glucose to produce acid without producing gas, and not producing hydrogen sulfide; Invasion of the colonic mucosa, secretion of Shiga toxin, leading to bacterial dysentery; Resistant to neomycin antibacterial agents in meat broth, has a certain resistance to acid, and can survive in feces, cooked food, and water for a short period of time.

Cultivation characteristics: The liquid is uniform and turbid, with a small amount of fine white bacterial sediment at the bottom of the tube, no gas production, and no blackening or discoloration; Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Bacillus and other miscellaneous bacteria are inhibited, and the liquid will not show severe bacterial turbidity.
