Milk protein hydrolysate and animal tissue enzyme hydrolysate provide carbon and nitrogen sources; Yeast extract provides various vitamins; Sodium chloride maintains a balanced osmotic pressure; Sodium pyruvate and sodium metabisulfite can neutralize toxic substances in the culture medium and enhance its air tolerance; Alpha ketoglutarate provides growth factors to promote the growth of Campylobacter jejuni; Sodium carbonate provides the most favorable acid-base environment for Campylobacter jejuni; Cefoperazone and polymyxin B inhibit Gram negative bacteria; Vancomycin and trimethoprim inhibit Gram positive bacteria; Amphotericin B inhibits the growth of yeast and fungi.
