Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Pig stomach digestate, beef extract powder, yeast extract powder, and L-arginine provide nitrogen sources, vitamins, and minerals; Sodium chloride maintains equilibrium osmotic pressure; Glucose provides a carbon source; Phenol red serves as an indicator.

Main components

Composed of pig stomach digestate, beef extract powder, yeast extract powder, L-arginine, sodium chloride, glucose, phenol red, and distilled water.

Clinical application scenarios

Isolation and identification of Mycoplasma hominis in the urinary and reproductive tract: Cultivation of urethral and cervical secretions for bacterial growth, and confirmation of Mycoplasma hominis infection through arginine metabolism staining.

Screening for respiratory opportunistic mycoplasma: sputum and throat swabs are used to detect oral mycoplasma and fermentative mycoplasma, and to identify arginine decomposing mycoplasma.

Biochemical typing and identification of Mycoplasma: Distinguish between arginine metabolism type and glucose and urea metabolism type Mycoplasma, and complete preliminary biochemical classification.

Pre clinical antimicrobial culture: target mycoplasma is amplified and enriched to prepare bacterial solution for subsequent antibiotic sensitivity tests.

Laboratory standard strain propagation and preservation: recovery and propagation of human mycoplasma and oral mycoplasma strains to maintain bacterial activity.

Pathogen screening for nosocomial infections and immunodeficiency populations: Screening for invasive arginine dependent mycoplasma in body fluids and tissue samples of immunocompromised patients.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Oral Mycoplasma

Biological characteristics: Mycoplasma pneumoniae colonizes the human oral cavity and upper respiratory tract, has no cell wall, relies on arginine metabolism, is generally conditionally colonized, and can cause mild disease when the immune system is extremely low.

Cultivation characteristics: Arginine decomposes to produce alkali, and the broth turns red with minimal turbidity. Fine attached particles are often seen only on the tube wall, and the overall liquid is almost transparent.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae

Biological characteristics: No cell wall, cholesterol requirement; Micro aerobic, decomposing arginine to produce ammonia; Colonization in the urinary and reproductive tract can cause disease when the immune system is weakened, and it is naturally resistant to beta lactams.

Cultivation characteristics: Metabolism produces alkali to turn phenol red red; The liquid is slightly misty and turbid, with particles on the pipe wall and a small amount of flocculent sediment at the bottom. It grows moderately.

Fermented Mycoplasma

Biological characteristics: No cell wall, cholesterol requirement; Decompose arginine production capacity; Opportunistic disease can cause systemic infections in the respiratory tract, joints, and immunocompromised individuals.

Cultivation characteristics: Metabolism produces alkali to turn the culture medium red; The liquid is slightly turbid, grows slowly, and has no obvious large sediment.
