Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Peptone provides the carbon source, nitrogen source, microorganisms, and mineral elements required for bacterial growth; Lactose is a fermentable carbohydrate that provides energy through metabolism; Selenite inhibits Gram positive bacteria and most Gram negative intestinal bacteria except Salmonella; L-Cysteine is a reducing agent.

Main components

Composed of peptone, lactose, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium hydrogen selenite, L-cysteine, and distilled water.

Clinical application scenarios

Salmonella enrichment in food: Inhibiting miscellaneous bacteria and enriching low levels of Salmonella in national standard testing of meat, dairy products, and other products.

Water sample and tableware screening: Conduct bacterial screening to identify Salmonella contamination on drinking water, sewage, and tableware surfaces.

Fecal specimen isolation: Increased bacterial count in the feces of diarrhea patients to assist in the diagnosis of Salmonella enteritis pathogen.

Medical environmental monitoring: Screening for Salmonella contamination in environments such as laboratories and fever clinics.

Disinfection effect verification: After disinfection test, residual Salmonella was detected and the killing effect was evaluated.

Laboratory quality control: enrichment of standard strains and comparison of positive and negative values to verify the performance of the culture medium.

Risk screening of agricultural products: source control of fresh fruits and vegetables, raw materials, and packaging contaminated with Salmonella.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Salmonella

Biological characteristics: Gram negative bacteria, flagella, facultative anaerobic; Foodborne pathogens that do not ferment lactose and produce hydrogen sulfide; Tolerant to the toxicity of selenite, cysteine can alleviate the damage caused by sodium selenite; Widely present in food, water sources, livestock, and the environment.

SC culture reaction: Cultivate at 36-37 ℃ for 18-24 hours, and the broth becomes significantly turbid; The liquid can appear light orange red without significant precipitation; The miscellaneous bacteria were suppressed, and only Salmonella proliferated massively.
