Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Peptone provides protein, vitamins, and amino groups; Glucose provides a carbon source; Sodium dihydrogen phosphate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate as buffer solutions; Beef bile salt and brilliant green are selective antibacterial agents that inhibit the growth of non Escherichia coli bacteria.

Composed of peptone, glucose, disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, bovine bile salt, brilliant green, and distilled water.

Clinical application scenarios

Lactobacillus enrichment in food: used for selective enrichment of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria in dairy products, meat products, and other food products.

Microbial limit test of drugs: Enrich bile salt resistant Gram negative bacteria in drugs, in compliance with pharmacopoeia standards.

Monitoring of fecal pollution in water sources: detecting Escherichia coli in drinking water, surface water, and sewage to assess the risk of fecal pollution.

Traceability of foodborne pathogens: Assisting in the enrichment of pathogenic bacteria in suspected food and patient specimens during food poisoning incidents.

Selective enrichment of Salmonella/Shigella: Selective enrichment of Salmonella and Shigella to improve detection rate.

Diarrhea causing Escherichia coli package: an enrichment step for detecting diarrhea causing Escherichia coli.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Salmonella

Biological characteristics: Bacillus subtilis, with flagella, motility+, facultative anaerobic; Not fermenting lactose, mostly producing H ₂ S, lysine decarboxylase+, and not decomposing urea; Pollution of meat and eggs can cause acute gastroenteritis, leading to sepsis, which is one of the primary pathogens of food poisoning; Tolerant to low concentrations of bile salts and selective inhibitors, competitive proliferation in a mixed bacterial environment.

Characteristics of intestinal bacterial enrichment broth culture (36 ℃, 18-24h): liquid state - uniform turbidity, no pigment, no black precipitate; Only turbidity cannot determine the bacterial strain, and selective plates such as SS and XLD must be transferred for cultivation; Bile salt inhibits miscellaneous bacteria, and Salmonella becomes the dominant bacterial group; The buffer system repairs damaged bacterial cells, and low load samples can also enrich live bacteria.
