Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Potatoes provide various sources of nitrogen, carbon, and vitamins; Glucose provides energy; Agar has a solidifying effect.

Main components

Composed of potatoes (extracted from which the extract powder is extracted), glucose, agar, and distilled water.

Validity period: The unopened original packaging has a validity period of 3 months.

This product is a disposable product.

Clinical application scenarios

Observation of bacterial dynamic characteristics: Using a semi-solid matrix, observe whether the target bacteria diffuse and grow along the puncture line through puncture inoculation.

Observation of characteristic pigment production: The target bacteria can produce yellow pigments on this culture medium, which serve as visually distinguishable auxiliary judgment features.

As a pre toxin enrichment step: in conjunction with subsequent selective isolation and toxin detection, complete the strain confirmation process

Special identification medium for initial screening of Burkholderia cocos: relying on dynamic diffusion and yellow toxin staining, rapid initial screening of Burkholderia cocos.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Burkholderia cocos

Biological characteristics:

G ⁻ short rod-shaped bacteria, terminal single flagella, active in movement, without spores or capsules, facultative anaerobic; G ⁻ short rod-shaped bacteria, terminal single flagella, active in movement, without spores or capsules, facultative anaerobic; Suitable for temperatures between 25-37 ℃, prefers high sugar and weakly acidic environments, commonly found in spoiled fresh Tremella fuciformis, fermented corn, glutinous rice, and potato products; Fermented glucose, highly metabolized, tolerant to low acidity, spreads and grows along the puncture line in semi-solid form.

Cultivation characteristics (25-28 ℃, 24-48 hours):

After puncture inoculation, it spreads in a cloud like manner along the puncture line, and the entire tube is uniformly cloudy (with motility), which is different from Shigella; Secreting toxic yellow, the culture medium changes from colorless to pale yellow → orange yellow, and the longer the culture time, the darker the color; At the puncture site, there is a gray white fine bacterial band, and the diffusion area is misty and turbid. There are no fungal filaments, black sediment, or gas producing cracks.
