Product Overview

【 Principle 】

Pancreatic protein provides a source of carbon and ammonia; Bile salt No. 3 inhibits Gram positive bacteria, particularly Gram positive bacilli and fecal streptococcus; Lactose is a fermentable sugar; Potassium dihydrogen phosphate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate as buffering agents; Sodium chloride can maintain a balanced osmotic pressure.

Main components

Composed of tryptone, sodium chloride, lactose, bile salt 3, lactose, dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, and distilled water.

Storage conditions and expiration date

Storage conditions: This product should be stored in a dark environment at 2-8 ℃.

Validity period: The unopened original packaging has a validity period of 6 months.

This product is a disposable product.

Clinical application scenarios

Food fecal coliform enrichment: Screening for warm blooded animal derived Escherichia coli at 44.5 ℃ to determine the degree of food fecal contamination.

Microbial monitoring of water sources: detecting fecal coliforms in water samples, evaluating fecal pollution and drinking water safety.

Distinguish between common and fecal coliforms: 44.5 ℃ inhibits environmental miscellaneous bacteria, only fecal coliforms grow and produce gas, and enhances specificity.

Food poisoning auxiliary screening: Enrich pathogenic Escherichia coli in contaminated food and vomit to assist in tracing.

Supporting confirmation process: After EC gas production is positive, it is transferred to EMB agar separation to complete strain confirmation and counting.

Batch rapid screening: The liquid culture operation is simple and suitable for large-scale synchronous testing in the laboratory.

Introduction to the Relevant Microbiological Characteristics

Escherichia coli

Biological characteristics: G ⁻ short rod-shaped bacterium, with motile flagella around its body, no spores, facultative anaerobic; Fermentation of lactose to produce acid and gas; IMViC:++--; The normal gut microbiota of warm blooded animals is an indicator of fecal contamination; High temperature of 44.5 ℃ can inhibit heat-resistant miscellaneous bacteria, and only fecal derived Escherichia coli can stably proliferate; Pathogenic Escherichia coli can cause diarrhea and urinary tract infections.

Cultivation characteristics (44.5 ℃, 24h): cloudy liquid, abundant bacterial growth; A large number of bubbles are generated inside the small tube, indicating that lactose fermentation produces gas and is judged positive; Fermented lactose produces acid, and the culture medium turns from green to yellow; Most miscellaneous bacteria grow weakly or do not produce gas in this high-temperature+bile salt environment.
